I graduated from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with a degree in English Education. Honestly, I never wanted to be a teacher. My mom astutely pointed out that an Education degree would be more marketable than a plain vanilla English degree, so I went for it. Turns out she was right (and one semester of student teaching was all the confirmation I needed to confirm I did not, in any way, shape or form, want to be a teacher).
Fast forward twenty-five years later, and I'm serving on a mission field in Papua, Indonesia, with Mission Aviation Fellowship. Working at Hillcrest School as... you guessed it... a teacher. But a Creative Writing teacher, mind you. It started as a one-on-one tutoring thing, basically just sharing my experience as a writer and editor and the various notes and highlights I had collected over the years. That soon blossomed into a regular thing, and nine years later I was still teaching young, impressionable minds how to hack out some half-decent stories.
Which is what I love to do: write short stories. Inspired by 80's comic books, The Twilight Zone and a heaping helping of Alfred Hitchcock, I churn out stories under the pen name Jack Kardiac, filled with more than a few creatures, superpowers and justice for all. When I'm not writing, I'm dreaming up new stories and editing like a maniac. As much as I love writing, I have to admit I think I love editing even more. Being able to polish other people's writing is exceptionally satisfying, which is why I'm happy to do it on a regular basis here at PaperPolishers.com!
Editing Specialties:
Supercharging short stories, Doctoring dead dialogue, Polishing college & persuasive essays, Christian Fiction & Non-fiction

I earned my B.A. in English from Texas A&M University and my M.A. in English at NC State and have spent the last two decades honing my skills as a writer and editor! I write speculative fiction novels full of suspense, social commentary, diverse characters, and complex relationships. I'm represented by Julie Gwinn at The Seymour Agency, and my debut sci-fi thriller, The Registration, published by CamCat Books, was picked up for a film adaptation by Sony Pictures. I have several other pre-published books in development, and several of my short stories have won awards.
Growing up in a small Texas town, I began exploring the world through the page so much that I often lost sleep finishing a book, received detention for writing a story in class, and convinced myself it was okay to reread Harry Potter "one more time." As my curiosity expanded, I began writing, traveling, and studying to discover the world, make new ones, and try to understand myself a little bit better. To stay updated and get more information on my various projects, head to my website, madisonlawson.com. Bring up Harry Potter, my dog, Halsey, or pretty much anything to get me talking nonstop.
You probably won’t regret it.

I am a wife, mother, psalmist, and published author of an insightful daily devotional, Court Etiquette: Approaching the King's Throne. I'm learning the joy of obeying God’s will in every facet and season of my life - and sharing my experiences through the gift of writing all along the way! I reside in the Charlotte, NC, area with my husband, Gibson, and our two lively teenagers. I'm dedicated to helping others enhance their personal effectiveness through spiritual growth and leadership development.
I dabble in amateur photography during my neighborhood walks, delight in trying out new recipes on my family, and love anything with glitter, sparkles and stickers. I also enthusiastically exercise my "public speaking muscle" as a member of Toastmasters. With a passion for all things literary, my creative works are embraced by writers and non-writers alike, due to my thorough attention to detail in editing and vivid description in storytelling.
